Justice Department: Use ‘Illegal Aliens,’ Not ‘Undocumented’ [Amren]
Washington (CNN)The Justice Department has instructed US attorneys offices not to use the term “undocumented” immigrants and instead refer to someone illegally in the US as “an illegal alien,” according to a copy of an agency-wide email obtained by CNN.
Dishonesty: Changing the meaning of known words, using false terminology, is a dishonest way to manipulate people. Correct, clear terminology is the hallmark of honest science. 1. Mathematics requires Well-defined terms.
Dishonesty: The term “undocumented immigrant” is factually wrong, because many “undocumented” people have a long list of criminal court case documents, or work records, or hospital records. The term “immigrant” [“a person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country”] has a connotation of legality, and permanence, not of illegal unlawful criminal trespass. Home invaders are not “undocumented residents”.
According to the email, the Justice Department uses terms in the US Code to describe an individual who is illegally in the US, and thus refers to them as “an illegal alien.”
“The word ‘undocumented’ is not based in US code and should not be used to describe someone’s illegal presence in the country,” the email states.
If a term is clearly defined by the legal code, why would someone want to change it? It is dishonest! Maybe “abduction” can become “take on a ride”? We have our vocabulary, everyone knows what it means. It is defined in the law.
